Acorn Project
Great Oaks from Little Acorns grow
We firmly believe the Oak tree is one of the most loved trees in the world, and with good reason. It's a symbol of strength, resistance and knowledge. If books were trees, then a Life Story book would definitely be an Oak tree!
Over the years we've seen the amazing therapeutic benefits of Life Story work, and therefore decided to launch 'The Acorn Project.' It's a free service to anyone who works in the Charity Sector and wants to harness the power of Life Story work to improve their person-centred or dementia care. We're currently working on projects with the Brigitte Trust, a charity aimed at supporting those living with a life limiting condition. We're also working with the Hunter Centre, a Dementia charity.
As part of the Acorn Project we've offered care homes and day centres free workshops, and have also provided free Life Story writing training to befrienders at Surrey Age UK.
Building on this, Rachel is Project Lead for this Surrey Age UK project- My Life, My Story. If you would like to volunteer for this fun and creative project, then please do get in touch.
